West Australian households installing a gas boosted solar system will be eligible to receive a rebate of between $500 and $700. The type of gas connection will determine which rebate you could be eligible for. This rebate applies to both new and existing homes.
The gas boosted solar system must have a tank capacity of at least 250 litres, and use a minimum of two solar panels.
The rebate scheme is expected to run through to June 2009.
Eligibility Criteria
- The rebate applies to installations of complying gas boosted solar water heaters in West Australian residential dwellings
- Rebate amount varies by gas type
Gas Type Rebate Value Natural Gas $500 Bottled LPG* $700 * Used in areas without reticulated gas - Available for new and existing homes, with pre-approval required for new homes
- Gas boosted solar system must carry a minimum five year warranty, with at least one year for all major components
- Only one rebate is available per household
- Gas boosted solar system must meet the following specification;
- Have a minimum of 2 solar panels
- Have a tank storage capacity of at least 250Ls

Payment
- The program has been developed and administered by the Sustainable Energy Development Office (SEDO) and funded by the West Australian Government
- Payment will be made by cheque (from SEDO) to the household usually in about 8 weeks from the date the application was received by SEDO
